How much space will I need for making backup disks for Vista?

I recently bought a computer with Vista Home Premium (64 bit) preloaded, but with Windows 7 coming out, I want to make a backup of Vista before I load the new OS. At least how much space in disks should I be buying? How much space will I need for making backup disks for Vista?
You don't need a lot of space, just right-click on the partition with the Vista OS, select [Properties], see how much space it occupies, and add 30% more. This will be enough to save full backup of your system.

It's better to use another HDD, it can also be an external hard disk.
