What is the chance that you are on the front line in the war and making it back home ?

Please be honest. What is the chance that you are on the front line in the war and making it back home ?
About 99% that you make it back home.

In one piece, that drops to about 95%.

No front lines, only sneaky bomber types. But you have the best CASH units and the dustoffs are the best in the world. What is the chance that you are on the front line in the war and making it back home ?
There is no ';front line'; in this war. But, in the Iraqi Theater of Operations there are about 160 thousand servicemen. Since March of 2003, a total of about three times that number has been assigned in country. The source below will give you the number of dead and the number of wounded who did not return to their units within 72 hours of being wounded or injured. You can then do the math. Then you can factor in that over six thousand males below the age of 22 were victims of homicide in the U.S in the year of 2006 alone.
There's not much of a front line so to speak, these cowards try and blow up innocent people instead of fighting our troops, so he has a really good chance of coming home with out a scratch as long as he pays attention to his job and watches his back. Most of the casualties have not been due to actual combat situations because our guys would kick their butts, that's why the have resorted to their cheap tactics.
depends on the war.

But in Iraq your odds of dying are very low compared to other wars.

ON AVERAGE

In WWII we lost 8000 a month.

In Korea we lost less than 2000 a month

In Vietnam we lost 400 a month

In Iraq the most we ever lost a month---was about 160

averaging somewhere around 90 month before the surge.

after a few months of the ';SURGE'; we average around about 30-40 a month.

the odds of a soldier dying in Iraq on any given day at the present time is about 1 in 150,000 or so.

Not likely any given day--but your in iraq for about a year and a half --so your odds of dying are about 500 to 150,000 or 1 in 300. For your whole tour of duty---1 in 300.

Much greater than winning the lottery--but twice as good as not being born with Autism.

So you fall in between dying from a Firearms and falling.

check out this link.--of course this is based on your average lifespan.

front line as in how, what job?

my fiance drove over 100,000 miles in Iraq and he made it back fine after dodging road side bombs and random attacks.

what is his job going to be? My fiance ran convoys from northern Iraq to southern, Everyone in his Unit came back alive, there were only like 6 people who had purple hearts and they still have all their limbs.
I think you go into a war zone with a positive attitude and do your job and your chances are very good you will come home.If you dont have a positive attitude you might not fair as well but it is according to where your at over there but those ive talked to were on front lines and came home fine.
I have been there alot, depends on whose army you are in, what kind of soldier you are, but sometimes mortars get lucky,.. hehe I remember one time I woke up when I heard mortars hit one side of the base and I went back to sleep ' I said to myself ';hell those sand crickets will take 5 minutes to get to my side';

Im sorry i was going back again,, this isnt the civil war I suppose you are Amercian, you will be fine
at this time better then ever, stats for 2006 state that there is one suicide per 1000 soldiers and 2 KIA per 800 soldiers, these stats were for American forces only
Good to excellant. It's less dangerous than walking thru the streets of our large ghetto cities.
I saw a stat that said 1 in 30 soldiers that serve in Iraq are KIA. Not completely sure though.
