What things should I look for when critiquing/making notes on nature documentaries?

I have an interest in pursuing a career in wildlife filmmaking and was hoping to spend my day off this week watching some nature documentaries and trying to make some notes on them/critique them from the perspective of a wildlife film maker. good question! i would watch and make sure they explain all the behavior. If you are sitting there going ';i wonder why those animals do that'; the person making the film is not doing her or his job. They also shouldn't interfere with anything the animals do, they should always let nature take it's coarse no matter how sad it might be. I worked for a project over the summer where we were breeding shrikes[a type of bird] for release into the wild. We had to do daily observations and it was EXTREAMLY important that they did not see or sense you watching them because it would alter their behavior and the day's observations would be useless. If the animals seem to know the film makers are watching, they won't act the same as they would normally.
