What are some interesting facts about clay and making pots? I have a project due tomorrow on it and I can't find anything. Please help!What are some interesting facts about clay and making pots?
Different areas have different styles





The shape





The color of the clay and the type of glaze can tell something about what is available locally and if there are elements in the pot that could only be traded for from some distance





The colors can also tell some about how it was fired and the types of kilns





Beginners start small. They try to get big like big is this great goal

They will survive forever, and eventually be the only sign we were here at all. Eventually metal will break down, obviously textiles disintegrate, everything we've created will disappear, but ceramics won't. It's beautiful.





The decoration usually gets really really ornate and flamboyant right as a culture 'peaks'.





The Japanese actually revered flaws in tea bowls - it was all part of the beauty. If it slumped, or had cracks, or weird stuff stuck to the glaze, etc., it was all the more wonderful.

Done right they last eons. As a matter of fact some of what we know about ancient civilizations come from the ceramics they left behind. Furthermore the heat tiles on the shuttles are ceramic.
