go to onestepahead.com they have books, food processors, food mills, and these really useful baby cubes that you can freeze the food in for easy to go containers.
Making your own baby food is so easy! To start off, you use just one food at a time like vegetable or a fruit. You can cook it until it mashes easily and then mash it until very smooth (you can add a little water if you need to). Freeze it in an ice cube tray, which gives you single servings to thaw.

You'll want to wait until the baby is around 6 months old to start this. Then, if the baby still pushes the food out of the mouth with the tongue, then you'll want to wait a bit longer. Once they don't do that anymore, they are really ready.

Try one new food a week so that if an allergy develops, you'll know what food caused the reaction. Once your baby has eaten each food individually, you can start mixing them until you are eventually just mashing up whatever you are eating and they are eating the same as you.

A great book is Whole Foods for Babies and Toddlers by Margaret Kenda, which you can buy at:

You can contact your local La Leche League Leader for a pamphlet called Baby's First Solid Food.

I really recommend the book, though. The fact that my daughter is the girl on the left on the cover has nothing to do with my recommendation. %26lt;grin%26gt;

Really, it's so easy you don't need a book, but it's a great book if you feel you need one.
Go to this link, theres a bunch of rated books

I didn't use a book, but I did make many kinds of food for my little guy.......some of the commercial stuff is vile. Homemade applesauce is easy, cook down the apples and strain. Baked sweet potatoes, steamed carrots both as simple as can be.

When you get to more fibrous foods you may want to invest in a food mill. Some veggies are impossible to get smooth, and meat is another huge challenge, but a food mill is designed just for this task.

Just leave out the fats, and season very lightly.....if it tastes bad to you, it probably is. I have a Bullet Blender now, and it works wonders at processing foods down.

Baby will eat what you eat........1 new food at a time. Just avoid heavy fats that baby does not need. You can also make food ahead and freeze it in ice cube trays, then put in baggies. You just have to select what you want to feed for the day.

You will definately need a fine sieve and some type of food processor, steamed veggies and fruit retain the most vitamins.

Good Luck!!
